Tips Tricks & Fun With Rylee

Today in cyber smart room 4 carried on building our jingle brand which is when you make your own logo sort of thing. We started off a few weeks back by set out how we wanted it to look on a google drawing. We also had to take a selfie of ourselves then cropped it with remove background, so it wouldn't take up all the space on the wevideo. My jingle includes some music, text boxes and Sophia and myself talking at the end.

My Magnificent Wooden Stool

After lock down when kids came back to school, on Wednesdays Room 4 did Tech and these are sewing, cooking and woodwork. The year sevens which was Jaimee, Duncan, Hayley and myself did woodwork with Peter who was the woodwork teacher. We started making stools and they are about 25cm tall and around 30cm wide. To make our stools it took 9 weeks so that means 9 days. All of the skills we used to make this stool was... sawing, measuring, gluing, staining the wood, sanding and drilling holes. It was a really fun process to go through along beside friends.
Today was our last session in woodwork and next up is cooking with Mrs Bennett.
This is how my magnificent wooden stool turned out...

Creating My Own Music

Last week with our cybersmart teacher, Room 4 got introduced to a song website called 'Soundtrap'. First we had to find a picture of either an animal or a sport or something that we like. I finally chose a picture of a running cheetah. When we were making our music it had to match the mood of your picture. It was really confusing at the start for all of us, so we all struggled a bit but also had a lot of fun playing around and making beats. When we had finished our sound we had to fiddle around a little bit so we could add our beats onto the picture. The one main thing that I found challenging during this process would have to be getting the hang of the whole app.
AND HERE'S MY FINAL PRODUCT . . .

5 Resons Why Living In The Country Is Better Than Town

With some of our writing with Mrs Bennett we did persuasive writing which is a type of writing when you and another person is debating on something like e.g Zoos should be banned.
We are trying to convince our audience to think something the same way as us and see our point of view.

Hypertufa Pots

Last Thursday with Mrs Allan room four started to make Hypertufa pots and how we did that was . . .
Firstly we got a bit of cardboard and we shaped it into any kind of shape, I just did a simple square. Once you had your shape you put tape on it to keep the shape in place. Then you completely cover the cardboard on the outside and the inside. Once you have done that you grab another bit of cardboard to place on the bottom. You stick the bottom to the shape with loads of tape so it doesn't leak out. We had to make a small hole with our pencil at the bottom of the cardboard for a place for water to drip out of.

Then we mixed together perlite, concrete, water and Pete so it was in between lumpy and watery. Before we put any concrete into the cardboard we got some blue tack and a round container that fits perfectly inside of the cardboard. We made the bit of blue tack about 2cm long and stuck it into the hole we made and balanced the container on top. We carefully packed the concrete down the sides and at the bottom of the cardboard.

After 1 week we went up to the shade house where we had kept our Hypertufa pots. Room four rushed back to class to destroy our creations so we could get our pot out.
They look really cool but now our class smells like a garden centre.

Best Tech Yet

Today for tech the year 7's woodwork teacher was sick so our principal was going to do something with us. Mr Knight choose to do robotics with us. We had one and 1/2 hours to complete out robots and we were going to have a soccer game with them. Our teams were Duncan, Maranga and Jaimee then Hayley and myself. The skill we were focusing on was teamwork. Neither of the teams had finished our creations so Mr Knight said he will find some time so we can finish our robots and have a big soccer game. It was really hard to find the pieces that we needed and also how to connect the batteries. Overall it was really fun and a great way to fill in our tech time.
Here's the robot Hayley and I are close to finishing . . .
